• Plant taxonomy (orchid taxonomy), herbarium techniques, nomenclature, typification, new species, systematics, biogeography and evolutionary diversification of tropical orchids, especially from Sub-Saharan Africa, geographical patterns of species diversification, phylogeny of Orchidaceae, interspecific hybridization, African orchid flora, pollination in orchids, co-evolution of orchids and their pollinators
